MIDPOINTS IN ASTROLOGY

Midpoints in Astrology are considered one of the more successful astrological applications for predicting.  A midpoint is the exact halfway point between two planets, or two significant points (Ascendant, Midheaven) or astrological bodies such as Chiron.  The Part of Fortune, as well as the Vertex, or other bodies that you use to delineate an Astrology Chart can also be used when calculating midpoints.

For example, if you have Uranus at 11 degrees Cancer and the Moon at 28 degrees Scorpio then the midpoint would be 19 degrees Virgo.  If by chance you have a planet or significant point in the natal chart that is within a one degree orb of 19 degrees Virgo, that planet would have Uranus and Moon connotations brought into the mixture of these planetary positions.  If for example, you have Mars within that one degree orb, Mars would be heavily influenced by Uranus and the Moon.

With transits and progressions, any planetary link to this position would carry these overtones as well as the conjunction to Mars.  You can also use the semi-square, the square, the sesquiquadrate and the opposition when delineating this configuration.  These aspects are all divisions of 45 degrees and will bring action, will create events and will make the energies of the planets involved quite noticeable to the individual.

Midpoints are very significant when deciphering potential events related to this equation which should also include the houses involved.   As mentioned, use an orb of no more than one degree when deciphering what potential situations may occur.  Midpoints are significant because they will provide the astrologer with a clear definition of what potential lies within the bounds of these transfigurations.

Midpoints can also be applied to the natal chart as the midpoint becomes a focal point when transits or progression join up and make contact with these sensitive points.  In most cases when the conjunction is activated between the two planets or significant points and the aspect is direct within one minute, you can certainly expect something to happen…..what depends on the other influences.

The house location of the midpoint will provide you with the area of life affected and you will also have to look at the houses the two bodies are located within in the natal chart to provide a clearer picture.  Then take into consideration what the planets represent and how this area of life will be affected.  For example, the Moon and Uranus and Mars would suggest an emotional experience that would be sudden and unexpected with the potential for aggressive action or progressive movement in the areas of life indicated (houses).

Midpoints can pinpoint events although the more angles involved, the harder it is to delineate.  Using the midpoint between the two planets is often sufficed in providing additional information.  Pay particular attention to the midpoints between the Sun and the Moon, and the Ascendant and the Midheaven.

WHAT IS STANDING IN YOUR WAY?

Are you stuck or does it feel like you are at a standstill? 

What is causing this lack of progress?  Before you point a finger of blame at someone have a close look to see what it is that you might do to change the direction of your life.  Is it actually someone else whom is holding you back or is it your ego that is playing the game of “It is not my fault”?

If you feeling as though you are at the mercy of life, perhaps a change of attitude is what you really need.  Perhaps a change of mindset and a little push from complacency might be in order.

If after careful review, you honestly believe that someone in your life is truly holding you back then step past their influence and stand on your own.  Perhaps a new direction is what is called for.  Perhaps breaking free from this individual is what is actually needed.  This is not to say that when life is holding you back that you break free and run.  What it is saying is that you may have to make your own way when after careful examination you feel the path has obstructions.

In most cases you stand in your own way.  The changes or new beginnings that you are in search of can come about with ease if you change your outlook on whatever you see as intrusive.  Your ego’s schemes are often what stand in your way.  By following these negative suggestions, you are your own stumbling blocks.  You can overcome and change direction when you change your outlook.  You are in command of your life, your reasoning, even your future direction.  Ride the wave but stand tall in the face of adversity and claim your rightful place in life.  You can only do this when you take responsibility for your life.

TRANSITING MERCURY AND THE MC (MIDHEAVEN)

In general, transiting Mercury moves quickly through the Zodiac.  It moves through a sign in about 3 weeks.  When it goes retrograde, which occurs about 3 times a year, making plans like signing agreements are best to be left until it goes direct again, usually in about 4-5 weeks.  Mercury goes retrograde today. 

Many with some astrological knowledge fear Mercury retrograde but during retrograde, we should be utilizing this time to prepare and get things ready for when Mercury returns direct again.

Mercury retrograde is especially strong in an astrology chart if it conjuncts, squares, or is in opposition to an angle or planet by less than three degrees and especially so if it is retrograde in your birth chart.

When Mercury moves across the Midheaven, this will be a time when you will find that your profession or work will have more importance.  Perhaps this will be a time when you must prepare for upcoming events, or times when you will make plans that are significant because of the impact that they might have on others or yourself. 

Communication, in one form or another (either literally through discussion or perhaps in the written form), becomes more important.  In general, the Midheaven is not directly related to your personal life so the affairs will not have an impact on your private life.

If in retrograde, this should be a time when you review any upcoming details that will need to be addressed.  You can analyse this information and put the finishing touches on it so that it will be in perfect working order when the time is appropriate to bring this information to those in positions of authority or those that will be affected by these plans.  If you put plans into action during the time when Mercury is in retrograde, the potential for the plans to not work out as planned is heightened.  This is not to say that things will not work but that they might not run as smoothly as they might have if Mercury had been direct.  On the other hand, if you are naturally drawn to procrastination then the retrograde period often suggests that you pursue things now. 

Mercury rules the thinking process and how the mind works.  The Midheaven or MC has to do with plans, your occupation, life’s status, your ego and public reputation.  It is important to recognize which stage Mercury will be in when reviewing material that you want to make public.  The time that Mercury will be in effect (through aspect) can last much longer if it is in retrograde and Mercury will pass the MC three times before it finally goes direct again.  Make sure you use these energies appropriately and time things according, if this is at all possible.  If you cannot time your plans around the retrograde and direct cycles, move forward with some caution but always remain optimistic that you will succeed.

TECHNIQUES IN FORECASTING IN ASTROLOGY

As we become familiar with the fundamentals of Astrology, such as the signs, houses, and aspects, we begin to develop a firm foundation of the meanings behind the horoscope.  The birth chart is a precise tool which delineates the character traits of an individual.  There are unlimited combinations and variations found in a natal chart and this is what defines each of us as unique personalities.

Once you have a clear picture of what makes a person from the energies of say an Aries Sun and Capricorn Moon different from someone with Aquarius Sun and Cancer Moon (which is only a part of the process) we can move on to delineate a chart for upcoming transits and progressions.  The tools used for transits and progressions decipher what potential future events or areas of life will be affected by the passing of the planetary giants in our solar system.

We have to take into consideration all the planets but pay particular attention to the outer planets, especially Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto together with any inner planet that is in retrograde motion (appears to be moving backwards) for a prolonged period of time.  The inner planets move very quickly through the zodiac and under most conditions, usually only impact us for a very short period of time and have little to no lasting influence.

The outer planets and retrograde planets passing over sensitive points in our birth chart, particularly the Ascendant and the Midheaven, can have profound effects on our lives and these often point towards turning points or significant life events that can alter our perception or instigate action that changes our perceptions or can point towards changes to our lives.

The most powerful transit is a transiting planet conjuncting (0 to 10 degrees apart) a natal sensitive point or planetary body.  The energies of the planets merge and become one and under many conditions, they intensify their energies when they are linked together.  The houses are areas of life and the transiting planet will intensify these points and may produce profound life altering effects especially when several transiting planets are saying something in the chart that is repeated.

The outer planets can be in an orb of influence for up to two to three years depending on when they go into retrograde motion and when they become direct again.  The first impact when a transiting planet makes an important aspect to another planet and makes a direct aspect to a natal point or planet will be the strongest.  An example of this might be Saturn conjunction Mars at 15 degree of Aries.  Both planets become direct when the transiting planet is exactly 15 degrees Aries (0 degrees difference).  This applies to squares, a 90 degree aspect, the opposition, a 180 degree aspect and all other major aspects, the trine, sextile as well as the minor aspects - semi-sextile, the semi-square and so forth.  The major aspects are more significant than the minor aspects and the challenging aspects usually promote transitional times in our lives.

There are several progressed aspects that are also important in determining factors in a chart and the potential for change in a person’s life.  We will look at the progressions at a later date.  The energies of a progression bring about more internal changes.  You will use the progressed Moon, transiting Mars as well as the transiting Sun and transiting Uranus as timers, as they often produce a push that activates the energies of the outer planets and often signify an event or a peak producing internal insight.

Today we have only touched on how to delineate potential life events as well as the timing as to when these events may unfold.  The area of life affected will be described by the houses involved in the transit or progression, as well as the natal placement of the transiting planets by aspect and house placement.

COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS, IN THE MOMENT

Many individuals are of the opinion that they are alone on this journey.  What is your opinion?

In many ways it seems as though we are on our own during this journey to awakening.  We do share this experience with many others and we are quite aware of this.  Why then do we feel alone and what is it that makes us feel apart from others?  Does ego have a hand in this?

We are all a part of the collective consciousness.  With this understanding, surely we can eliminate this feels we have and then provoke change in this world--change for the greater whole.

Have you ever thought of someone and then the phone rings and they are on the other end of the line?

How often have you been singing a song in your head and then you miraculously hear the song on the radio or the internet? 

These small incidences (often thought of as irrelevant) confirm our connection to the whole.

Do you wonder if you, as a single individual, can affect the overall condition of the world?  Have you decided that it would be insignificant if you were to partake in an effort to do something energetically worthwhile for our ailing world? 

If we feel this way, I am of the opinion that it is time to think again.  We share this world, we share this collective consciousness and we can and do affect each other.  The part that each of us play is important.  Not one person more important than the other.  It does not matter the state of our conscious connection although mental recognition is beneficial.

We are all part of the process and linked in consciousness.  Many are aware of the awakening taking place world-wide.  Some read about it and others feel it.  We form part of the ancestral group for this evolving story.  We are here to shake up consciousness and to awaken to our greater purpose of peace and love.

Will you do your part in this process?  Share your experience and knowledge and align with the universal principle of gratitude.  Help shake this world out of its complacency.  Belief structure forms our reality.  What are your expectations?

TRANSITING SATURN SQUARE JUPITER

As a bit of a background, Saturn in retrograde often works in ways that most planets in retrograde do not work.  Most of the planetary energies are withheld when in retrograde, while Saturn (who’s energy is normally suspended) is quite the opposite.  Some consider its retrograde energies similar to the energies of Jupiter and its energies, which are normally withdrawn, are now softened.  When Saturn is direct in motion, its energies are restrictive and a disciplinary in nature and the urge to make deliberate plans of action are restricted and stifled.

Transiting Saturn makes things difficult especially when in direct motion and a square to Jupiter often denotes a time when plans are thwarted and very limited.  If you want to achieve while this square is in place, you will have to work diligently and will often be feeling limited with your progress.  Saturn will test your resolve and will cause a review of how your life is running up to this point in time, especially in areas related to business ventures and finances.  Your career options may also be under discrete dissection and people in authority will be watching your every move.  Be sure you do not miss any steps.  Progress is often stagnated if not completely stopped.  Taking on too many projects is never suggested when Saturn is involved and most certainly not when Jupiter and Saturn are in square with one another.

Seven years ago during the conjunct between Saturn and Jupiter or during the Saturn Jupiter opposition, you may have started a project or began something new.  This Square will bring it out into the open and subject it to intense scrutiny and observation.  It will be tested and if you did not look at it from every angle and make sure that everything was completed according to set standards, you may have to cut your losses and begin anew.  In seven years, things will once again be tested and if things are not working now, it is wise to just begin again using an alternate route, if the first one did not work.

During this square, Jupiter, which is all about expansion and freedom of movement, will be harnessed and tested.  The desire to move out into new directions does not sit well with Saturn and you will be wise to make sure that before you move ahead in life that you have taken the necessary precautionary measures and put them in place or you will be stifled and held back in your objectives during this aspect..  Obstruction and agitation, along with anxiety may all be part of the process, but the end result if you make sure that you crossed all the “T”s and dotted all the “I”s might well be worth the struggle.  The foundation that you build during this time will stand the test of time and be built on solid ground. 

It is often suggested that you wait until this transit is over before you make alternate plans or begin new projects.  There will be far less obstruction and fewer obstacles to overcome.

ONE STEP FORWARD

How would you finish off this statement – “One step forward...........”.  Would it be “and two steps back” or would you leave it as it is? 

How you finish that statement is a good reflection of how you are currently viewing life.  Is your current view a negative one of moving backwards (two steps back)?  Even when life appears to be moving backward, it is not.  Understanding that “every event holds within it a valuable lesson” would alter this view immensely.

Life is always moving forward even when it appears as though it is not.  We learn our primary lessons from life when it is seemingly in retreat.  These difficult lessons are actually stepping stones.  Most of our valued lessons stem from challenging conditions.  If we can maintain this perspective, we will not be affected in a negative way when life’s direction seems challenged.  Some individuals with complete faith in the process actually welcome hard lessons as they know they will grow in leaps in bounds when the lesson has been completed.  There are also some individuals that make negativity their identity and they believe unconsciously that by maintaining victim status this gives them an identity to the world. 

One step at a time is a great motto.  We can live by accepting what has happened in our lives and moving beyond those events.  How we react to anything in life is our chose.  Shall we allow an event to define us or shall we take from any event the lessons presented and grow from them?  Challenges in life are ideal tools to help us grow and expand our understanding or they can assist us to change our direction in life.  There are times that we need to start over again, beginning anew and changing direction from the course we were on.  Sometimes life events will push us in that direction.  Other times we are meant to stay determined and committed to what life has presented us with.  What a wonderful feeling of accomplishment when we have conquered a difficult situation.  What type of faith does this build in ourselves?

Our reactions are always a choice.  Even when life seems to dictate, our response is what we control.  Is  your response to life conditions “one step forward”?  Recognize the potential in this statement. 

Why would we want to view life from the perspective that we may move forward but then we move in reverse?  If this is your belief than this is how you will direct your life’s course.

SUN IN VIRGO

The Sun moves into Virgo on the 23rd of August this year. This post will help identify some of the very distinctive character traits of those individuals born with the Sun in Virgo (the inner self), a Rising Sign of Virgo (the face they show to the world) and/or several planetary links in the sixth house, naturally ruled by the sign Virgo.

Virgo is the sign of the virgin and many of these individuals are pure in their actions (not necessarily sexually).  They often remain true to their character and insist on truth and trust even after they have been betrayed by others.  This is not to say that they are naive, although there is something innocent about their demeanor. 

Virgo individuals are conservative in their approach to life and are rarely gamblers. They like the tried and tested route. Because of their intellectual approach to life and their ability to decipher even the tiniest of details, they are excellent problem solvers, although their approach may be considered by some as extreme. They are very service oriented and enjoy helping others and have an uncanny ability to create order out of chaotic conditions. They truly give of themselves to those in need and can be counted on if they give you their word. They will offer their advice and aid in almost any situation.

Many are truth seekers and information gatherers.  They enjoy study and getting to the core of issues.  They are perfectionist by nature and analyse those they meet by carefully dissecting them to the core, uncovering all the little flaws of their personality.  Many Virgos are somewhat nit-picky and do see faults in themselves and others, but can be open about it.  If they are open, they will speak their observations only to assist in some way.

They can be somewhat shy and retiring, although once you have their trust, they can be quite interactive.  They are studious and want to not only understand a topic of interest but want to understand these topics of interest thoroughly.  They are meticulous when it comes to their interests and will not miss anything.  This is where their perfectionist capabilities shine through.

They are very body conscious and feel everything on an emphasized level.  Nothing slips by them and they digest everything on a physical level.  Many Virgo individuals will self-diagnose or read intensely about their body and its functions to understand its intimate workings.  This can lead to obsessive behaviour in some and worry in many.  They will have to find ways to overcome and alleviate these conditions.  Health consciousness and diet along with hygiene are key character traits exhibited by many Virgo individuals.

Rewards come their way when perseverance is required and they will often take on jobs that are too difficult for others to handle as they can make it work in the very best possible way. They also make excellent writers, analyzers and critiques because of their ability to stick with something until it is completed. They are usually good at handling money matters and make great financial advisers.

In the working environment, Virgos can be very fussy and critical of their own work.  They are meticulous about every detail and their working environment has to be in order, with everything in its proper place.  They also make great secretaries or assistants.  Order is essential for them and will help them in many of their endeavors in life.  When it comes to their work ethics and performance, there are few that can compare.  They will dissect everything with great enthusiasm and enjoy their work, even if they will not admit this.  They truly want to do their best at everything in life.

Many Virgos are living in the practical world of efficiency and the material world is right up their alley.  In general, they complete their tasks regularly and when things are left incomplete or messy, it is a sure sign that something in their life is out of balance or our of harmony.  This is often a by-product of being unhappy with their own efforts and they will criticize their own work to a fault.  It would suit them very well both mentally and physically if they could stop being so judgmental particularly on a personal level.

Virgo individuals are meticulous about everyday details and although they insist that they do not need applause or a complement for their work, they do appreciate being needed and enjoy helping.  They also want respect for their hard work. 

Those with Virgo dominant in their charts could learn to develop a more carefree attitude and learn to exercise forgiveness that stems from deep within.  It is always beneficial to relax and enjoying what life has to offer.

TIMING FACTORS IN ASTROLOGY

The angles in an astrology chart (Ascendant, Midheaven, the IC and the DC) are highly sensitive areas when touched by transiting (current placement) planets. 

The planets are also important in event forecasting, especially the outer planets (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) due to their slow rate of travel through the zodiac.  Due to the speed of their movement, the energies have a longer effect and can affect an area of your chart for several years.  Although you will be affected during the whole period of the aspect, the closer the aspect is to being direct, the stronger the energy.

It is important to look at the planet that is being transited and the natal aspects (aspects in your birth chart) to this planet along with any other transits or progressions that are influencing the degree in question.  If a natal planet has any other planets in the birth chart affecting it by natal aspect, these other planets or key points will also be affected by the transit in question.  The more aspects a natal planet receives from other natal planets and key points, the stronger the influence will be.  The energy of the planets involved and the house placements will help define how the energies might be released.  The overall picture, which includes the transiting planet, its house position and it’s natal position must be assimilated when unlocking the potential when a transit is occurring.

When a transiting outer planet is within one degree of being direct to a natal planet by aspect, you should look at the transits of Uranus, Mars, the Sun as well as the progressed Moon and when any of these planets activate the natal planet being affected, the energies will be released.  For example, let’s say that transiting Pluto is squaring your natal Sun.  This aspect indicates that changes on a personal note are taking place.  This could also have a professional effect, but much will be determined by the house placement of the Sun and also Pluto.  The closer the degree is to being direct, the stronger the aspect.  Our example of the square, we are saying the planets are 89 degrees and 20 minutes apart, so the energies are strong as they are only out by half a degree).  It is also necessary to check if one of the planets that trigger an event is in the same degree particularly by conjunction, as this will undoubtedly activate an event and stimulate activity to take place.

Uranus can usually be used by itself to the exact degree to the minute defining activity in the area of life depicted by house positions.  Mars and the Sun will also activate what is potentially promised, but Uranus can often be counted on to release the energies often exact within a couple of days.  If transiting Uranus is making the aspect in the natal chart, this might be enough to determine when things will happen, but Uranus is very unpredictable and what to expect might be very difficult to pinpoint exactly as with Uranus you can expect the unexpected.

These timing factors can often help determine the potential timeline within a one month factor.  These timing planets can help define when things will happen.  The transit itself when separating (exact separation) from the natal point in question will also define how long the energies are active.  The energies will begin to subside after the exact aspect (with a square exactly 90 degrees) begins to separate.

With the proper delineation of a chart, Astrology can definitely point the way, although we as individuals still make the final decisions and our attitude towards any event will defines how the energies of that event will affect us.

They say that everything happens for a reason.  Do you feel this holds truth?

We may all have our own definition of significance but it is my opinion that everything in life is significant.  Yes, everything.  If we are truly living in the moment that each of us share, the significance of that particular moment is purely recognized.  If, however, we are constantly living in our minds and not aware of the moment, we may fail to recognize the moment’s worth.  Most things will just pass us by.

Events or things would not be happening to you or recognized by you unless they were meant to be. 

We ride the wave of life together and have an influence on each other.  This is not just by chance; these are influential purposes.  Those individuals that you get close to in life play an important part in your life.  Do not play down their importance. 

Realize the importance of every event.  Each moment is meant to be.  Everything in life plays a significant role event if we do not understand this role.  You are here to learn, to experience and to explore.  Do not miss anything.  Do not let ego convince you that you are not worthy or that you are not ready, the time is now.  Enjoy the moment.

FULL MOON/LUNAR ECLIPSE AQUARIUS - AUGUST 18, 2016

S

There will be a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse beginning at 5:26 am on August 18, 2016.  The Full Moon (always a full moon during an Eclipse) in general is the harvest period time for the seeds planted during the New Moon.  It is also a time when you take stock of what you have either completed, set in motion or are preparing for.  If you have fallen short of your goals, this will be the time to cut your losses and learn from your experience and move forward from there.

This Full Moon falls in Aquarius indicating humanitarian ventures which may have began some six months ago when the New Moon was in Aquarius.  Aquarius represents progressive thinking and influencing people’s attitudes and belief structures so that they can move beyond any limitations in their thinking.  Aquarius’ influence can assist these individuals into moving in new more progressive directions.  Aquarius energies create attitudes that are ahead of their time and always have the betterment of humanity in mind.  The goal is to create a shift in those that are stuck in complacency or focussed on out-dated ideas.

The energies of an eclipse are a far more powerful than those of the Full Moon’s or New Moon’s energies. 

The length of time the Eclipse event lasts will determine the length of time its energies will have an influence for this specific Eclipse on anyone who has a planet or significant house cusp (Asc, DC, MC or IC) at 25 degrees Aquarius.  You can use a 3 degree orb to calculate this influence.  Pay particular attention to which house or cusp that is being influenced by this eclipse.  The affairs ruled by that house and any planet it touches are activated and the energies of the planet in question are stimulated.  This should only be by conjunction (0-10 degrees) and the length of time (in hours) the eclipse lasts is measured in months to know the length of influence.  If, for example, the eclipse lasts 3 ½ hours, its energies will have an influence for 3 ½ months.  (Solar eclipse is calculated in years).

Eclipses suggest changing circumstances which are often brought about through hard lessons or crisis.  This does not have to be an extreme crisis, but whatever emergency is stimulated by the event brings about a positive outcome as time passes.  Conditions change and our inner self knows intuitively what it is that we need in order to bring about much needed growth.  In many cases, we have been prompted to make adjustments in our life and many of us have not moved in the appropriate direction.  This Eclipse will motivate us or cause something to happen to ensure that we get moving.

Always pay attention to the axis of where the eclipse falls in your chart.  For example if it falls in your first house, the axis point will be the seventh house.  An eclipse in the first would produce needed changes on a personal note and also have ramifications in your relationships.  Perhaps the relationship itself causes the change.  With this example, the influence would have something to do with your immediate surroundings and also to motivate you to place your objectives out into the public eye.  Get things out in the open and put your personal stamp on it.

There is no need to fear Eclipses.  More often than not, events and influences will happen on a more subtle level and if you happen to have a planet at the same degree, you would also have to have many planets in the same degree in other signs for there to be influence on a grand scale for you personally.  It is also necessary to have several planets or significant points making tight aspects to 25 degrees Aquarius in your chart.

WHO CAN YOU DEPEND ON?

 

There will be times when we have to ask for assistance from others during this journey.  Sometimes, those individuals we approach are available and offer sound advice.  Sometimes no one seems to be accessible and we have to reach within for our answers. 

There will be times that the questions are so profound that we reach for higher guidance from our inner self, guides or source.  It is reassuring to know that we can always rely on these sources for advice and guidance.

There will be many times during life that the answers to our questions are not what we might have expected and the answers we receive actually create even more questions.  The steps we need to take as a result of these answers are not always easy.  It can be confusing when we have to take a route that is foggy to our human minds as we always want to proceed with clear understanding and our eyes wide open.  However, there are times when we need to have faith and move in the direction that may not appear to be an easy one at the time.

If we search deep down inside we will discover that we have the answers to most of our dilemmas but we may not be aware of the guidance we are receiving from the other side.  Many of us feel as though we can only depend on ourselves although we might also recognize the efforts made from outside sources.  In general, we can rely on our own good judgement and if we follow through without too much additional worry about what the outcome might be, things turn out fine.  It is the release of worry that can be difficult.

Ego will try to make us think that we are the only ones orchestrating the decision making.  Quiet that loud obnoxious, misleading voice within and listen to that quiet little voice that radiate from within, as that voice can always be relied upon.

We are never alone in our decision making and someone will always assist us in our time of need.  As a result, we should never worry about making the wrong choices as nothing in life is by chance and even the most challenging road is a route that teaches us the most memorable lessons in life.

When you are faced with challenging conditions, know that you are being guided and never doubt that assistance is available.  If a friend offers advice, listen with an open mind as that advice may be just what is needed.  Know with certainty that what you require will always be found.  No mistakes; no wrong turns.  Always have confidence that you will find the answer that most suits the solution to your question.  It may not be the answer you would prefer but it is the answer that you need.

TRANSITING SATURN CONJUNCT THE MOON

During 2016, transiting Saturn will be between 10-20 degrees of Sagittarius.  Many people who will have this transit in their chart (be sure to check you chart to see if you have this transiting aspect) will feel its influence as much as 5 degrees approaching and up to 6 degrees separating.  Saturn’s energies are felt differently than any other planetary influence.  All other planetary influences will be at their strongest when direct but Saturn is at its strongest influence at 2 degrees past direct.  Saturn’s influence has a slow but steady feel to it and as it approaches, it will increase in intensity and then slowly releasing its energies as it moves out of range.  Saturn is slow and deliberate, and its intensity is easily felt.

When Saturn is conjunct the natal Moon or when it moves into conjunction with the progressed Moon, this is known as Saturn chasing the Moon syndrome.  Its energies are felt on an emotional level.  How it will affect you depends on if the Moon is receiving other aspects, but it is fairly safe to say that you may go through depressive moods, feelings of insecure and inferiority, and your self-worth will not be at its peak.  It is wise not to get caught up in the negative ramifications that this conjunction often implies.  You could easily become overly self-critical and although there is nothing wrong with self-analysis, remember to view yourself from a positive perspective as well.  Do not be overly nit-picky but you may discover some flaws that will need some adjustment.

Your emotions may lack softness.  You may even feel emotionless or cold except perhaps for the feeling that you are not good enough or do not care enough.  Being reflective, however, does not have to have negative ramifications.  If we remove judgement, we can sometimes learn exactly what we need to.  Saturn is the teacher and will certainly provide us with information.  Watch, however, for becoming overly pessimistic and self-critical.  If you want to keep tabs, you can write your thoughts down on paper, but be sure to match each challenging characteristic with a positive one.  Using this approach you will not lose focus on what really matters.

It will undoubtedly be a challenging time, off and on during this upcoming year, depending on how other planets play their part in the process.  Interact with others to obtain a clearer perspective and a more rational explanation.  Do not isolate yourself because of your feelings.  You need to process and then let go. 

Saturn will challenge you to figure out who and what you are.  This transit will help you figure out just that.  Self-reflection is a good thing and you can learn a lot about yourself during this aspect.  It is pretty much guaranteed that you will make significant changes to your character, but growth is a good thing.

The mother and often women in general will often play significant roles during this period. 

Taking control of your interactions with others can be challenging at times and it is best not to make any important life changing decisions during this aspect.  If you are contemplating leaving an important relationship and you are unsure, it is suggested that you wait until this transit has passed.  After the transit, you will have a much clearer picture of what is really taking place in your life.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HOUSE CUSPS IN ASTROLOGY

Planets located on the Ascendant and MC have a very powerful effect in our natal charts.  When these two areas are aspected by transit, quite often things happen and our lives are stirred.  The other cusps are also important when a transiting planet (in particular a progressed planet) crosses over any house cusps.  The strongest point of impact (when you notice a change) will be when they pass over the cusps and this is particularly true if they station on one of these cusps. 

A planet that goes into retrograde over one of these house cusps can move over this area up to three times and this has an impact on the area of life the house represents and with the energies of the planet involved.  Once the transiting planet moves into the house and will not go into retrograde over that cusp again, the energies lose some of their strength or intensity. 

It has been noted that individuals with a 0 to 1.5 degree Cardinal cusp on the Ascendant and Midheaven appear to get recognition over their life time.  Some become famous or infamous, much depends if any planets are making aspects to these areas and which planets as well as what aspects are part of the equation.  We are referencing to a natal chart and for many this is a very real potential.  Moving to a different location and having a rectification chart prepared may bring on this potential or take this potential away, depending on the positions in the horoscope and how far away you have moved.

In Transit and especially with Progressions, the house cusps become very significant.  If, for example, you have Pluto moving over the second house cusp and this could last up to one year, you will often notice a fluctuation in the finances.  Security goes through a transformation and you will uncover deeper connections to your feelings of security in life.

If the same planet moves across the seventh house cusp there may be transformations in a marriage relationship or business partnership.  Some marriages dissolve under this transit, some relationships are made under this transit, but one thing is for certain, the relationship itself will go through some challenging conditions where issues come to the surface.  These issues must be dealt with appropriately.  A strong relationship will survive the lesson of this transit, but a weak one may not.

It is important to see how the transiting planet makes aspects to other planets during this transit.  This will determine the intensity of what takes place.  It is also important to check what the natal potential suggests.  Several challenging aspects in the natal chart to Pluto would stay with Pluto, as an example.  With this example, real struggle would be indicated.  Mostly positive aspects to the planet in the Natal chart would prove to be quite beneficial.

Pay particular attention to the progressed planets making a conjunction to a cusp as this could last for an extended period of time.  In general when the progressed planet is within 12 minutes of being direct, this will be when the strongest time for activity will be felt.  As it separates and moves across the cusp, its energies will weaken and eventually pass.

House cusps are very significant, especially when you are dealing with a solar return period.  Have a close look at your chart or have a professional delineate it for you.  What cusps are active in your life.

TRUE INSPIRATION

Have you ever questioned who you really are, on a deep, non-physical level? 

Are you a believer?  A believer in what?

Do you think that mundane living is non-essential and serves little purpose?
